A user, "Joe Schmoe", had his name changed to "Just Joe", now he wants his name changed back to "Joe Schmoe", as he doesnt like being "Just Joe" anymore.

I select "Approve" and am told that the settings have been updated, however the user is still "Just Joe", and "Just Joe" wants to know why he can't be "Joe Schmoe".

Are you talking about 6.3.

The display name should change if you approve it. The login name will never change. That always reminas the same.

Forgot to mention the version, it's 6.3 br4. I have asked the user to request changing their name several times and tried to approve it, but no luck. I am talking about the display name, it just wont change, when we hit the update button.

Has anyone else tried to approve a display name being changed to something, and then approve changing it back to an original name?

Could be a bug, since it checks to see if a login name or display name already exists. What is the login name for that user?

The login name is the same as what they want as their display name.

Ok, this is a bug that I'll need to work on patching up for the final release.
