Ok, I can't figure this out. I regularly get emails with the Subject Re: reply to your post. These are replies to posts by users, not by me. I'm trying to figure out how these are coming to me. I thought it might be users that had entered my email address in their profile, but that's not it.

Has anyone else seen this and, if so, any suggestions on how I get it to stop other than using email filters, etc.?

If people check the option to receive replies to their posts... they will receive it via email.

To reply to those posts.. .they MUST return to the board and post their reply.

But, because the email comes from your address (the admin/contact address in your config file)... people reply to the email instead of posting the reply to the board.

There's no easy way around that without some hacking. I usually reply and tell them that they need to return to the board to post their replies.

Some easy way around it would be to edit the /languages/english/addpost.php file.

Look for this:
$ubbt_lang['REPLY_BOD'] = "replied to your post at the site: .";

Change to something like this:

$ubbt_lang['REPLY_BOD'] = "replied to your post ***DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL - YOU MUST RETURN TO THE SITE TO POST A REPLY.*** To view the post and/or make a reply visit: ";

The system automatically inserts the username of the person who replied in front of that line...and the link to the post after that line.

That should help the problem quite a bit.... that way when they get the emails about their posts... the caps instructions will give them a hint. I think alot of people reply to that email because they think it will get posted for them automatically.

Hope that helps. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

I've seen the same thing that Pete reports in the past - and it was definitely happening when the users concerned had notchecked the option to receive replies to their posts. I reported it the time, but no associated bug was ever identified. I've not seen it happen for a few months now.
