Whenever I have to close the forum for some maintenance activities, I find it annoying that I cannot enter the forum myself <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I'd like to check my actions by running the forum software. Now I gotta open the forum for a while to do so, and other people might encounter the forum when it is not working.

Is there a work around, a hack, or some other solution ?

There may be a hack - you might want to check ubbdev.com

You could use a .htaccess file to prevent anyone but your IP address from accessing the forum, but that's a server-specific solution (it would only work if you're on, probably a UNIX server, running Apache).

However, there's no builtin feature, though there is a thread which has received some exposure in the feature suggestions forum recently..
