I would also like to know if this is possible. I am tired of people without the access, asking me for access. Thx.

I'm no expert but this works for me. In the Forum Settings set the board you dont want to display to off instead of on, this means that it wont be displayed. Then just send the link to the forum to the people you want to have it.

I've tried this, but when you try to post to the forum, it says that the forum is "Inactive", and you can't post to it.

Has someone found a solution to this?

You can still turn it off, and use the direct link, but the forum is essentially dead since you can't post to it. AHHH!

Try rebuilding all the forums in the maintenance section of your control panel.

The only option under Maintenance similar to your comment is "Rebuild Forum Stat Files".

I ran that, it makes no difference. Perhaps this is a change to UBB V6 - I can go to the forum directly, but since it is "off" in my control panel, I can't post to it (because it is "inactive").

So the quesion remains, how do you make an active forum (whether or not its private) NOT show up on the forums main page (list of forums)??????

Here is the exact message given when "New Topic" is selected (and I am logged on as an administrator):

"This forum is now inactive. You may not post to this forum. "

There is specific code in UBB to NOT show allow a forum to be used if it is private and turned off. I have NO idea why.

However, I commented out 3 lines and everything works fine - I just HATE having to hack the code for something that seems so obvious. Anyone from INFOPOP have a comment?

While I'm not giving an official verdict, I'll confirm that you can't have a private, hidden forum anymore, AFAIK - you get that inactive message. Don't know why it was done that way, but that's how it is..

Going to move to UBB6Q&F as that's where this thread is now focused.
