Here is the situation:

I have a common header and footer for most of my forums. There is a slight difference though ... I have a different color framing and section for the inner forum table. For example:

Site News Section

The Inferno Forum

XBox Fan Forum

PS2 Fan Forum

You get the idea.

Well, The problem is when I add new things to the left side navigation (in the header) or the right side ad area (footer), I have to go thru each individual style and change it. This can become a pain after a while.

Obviously I cannot use SSI since it isn't shtml, and I prefer not to use java since I am not knowledgable on it at all.

Is there a way to have a main header for most sections (top and left side), sub header (inner forum table ... changable per style), and a standard footer for most areas?

Thanks.

I'm 100% not sure, but possibly with style sheets made for each section you could set the table color differences, but use the same hader and footer throughout. You could add the new style sheet taginto the Header Section: area. it should work. For example:

Let's say forum one has a red section then you would add this to the .css file

table1 {
background-color: #ff0000;
}

with a tag in the header and or footer code.

Then forum 2 has a blue section:

again you'd have :

table1 {
background-color: blue;
}

but the color would change, and you'd rename the style sheet so you have one for each forum, with the same tags but different color codes etc. You can images etc this way also. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

After looking over my idea. I see you'd need to add the .css tag to the public_forum_page.pl template. As well as the key tags. there would still be a few hurdles. Need to think on it more..
