I just installed UBB and it went smoothly. Now I am configuring the design.

Is it possible to close the forums to the world, make changes to the templates, and then preview the changes, without having to open the forums?

I'm finding that I cannot really tweak and preview unless the forums are open.

You're correct - it ain't possible.

If you're playing with style templates, assign that template to an inactive forum (turned off but NOT private) and access it directly by URL (ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=#).

You should be able to see the changes in that forum only, without affecting anyone else.
