I'm running an un-hacked UBB.classic 6.7.1 with the following stats:

Total members: 9,116
Total forums: 57
Total topics: 69,119
Total posts: 609,023

Any guess on how long it will take to upgrade and import posts to the new product?

Besides the obvious (deleting posts and old member accounts) are there any things a person should do to his board now that might make upgrading/importing any easier?

This is a great topic/question for someone like me! grin

When we finally can get our hands on Threads 7 (IvebeenwaitingpatientlyreallyIhave!) and we try to import Classic, should the Classic we import be free of hacks?

Mitch, importing 45k posts on my forum took a couple of hours, you'll be looking at quite a bit more (mine took 5 hours or so?)

Sue, it won't matter if your .c is hacked or not, in fact, ian worked hard to ensure some data from some hacks (such as the hit hack) are imported as well.

I'm assuming as you're just importing data (and it only takes what it knows how to take)

The .threads importer might be a bit quicker as it's just reading from one database and into another. The .classic importer has to jump through alot of hoops to read some of the data out of the flat files, convert it into something php can work with and then import it.

It takes about an hour and a half to import ~3200 members and 55,000 posts from my classic forum to threads 7, it runs smoothly tho now after much beta testing, just set the variables on the first page and let it run. I'd say it would take maybe 10-11 hours on your site. I have a few mods (calendar and page views) that it imports, so an unmodified classic will probably import a little faster.

If I were you I'd tell the members to get some sunshine for a day, that we'd be back better than ever when they get back smile

Thanks. I also plan to give my host the heads up. Wouldn't want to walk away and leave it running and have them stop it from running.

A little tip for some people: If you go to bed after letting it run, it tends to be done by the time you wake up. No point in looking at the screen for 10 hours, since all it's gonna do is give you a little text. (Wrote the importer, had to test it almost everyday, so he knows how boring it can get)
