In my forum (http://www.msweb.nl/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi) the 'view recent post' function does not necessarily show the most recent posts.

One problem is that it shows all posts in the forum with the highest forumnumber (in my case forum 5, YoungMInds!), the other that the choice of

Is there a way to influence this behaviour, by using the maitenance functions in a smart way or in any other way ?

I'd really like to see the most recent posts, as the function states.

I do use one index for each forum each, and cannot change that into one index for all forums, because of server-specific reasons.

Hi Sara:

I don't believe this is a bug in your version. My suggestion would be to try running the maintenance functions from your control panel - I would run them all, for good measure in this order: Rebuild Member Stat Files; Update Member Post Histories; Rebuild Search Index; Rebuild Forum Stat Files. Then, use the Clear Cache function.

Let us know how that works.

Recent posts is not completely accurate, I can atest to that. All posts made before the current day are in correct order, however, today's posts can some times be in a jumbled order.

and view the recent post history of the first poster

The topic 7242 does not show up at all in this list, but on position 5 (at this moment) the topic 'kokkerellen', probably one of the oldest attributions this user made.


BTW,
I've been looking into the source, and I really cannot find any 'recent' or date criteria in the building of the user_posts files ???

And it IS using the search index, so I do not understand what rebuilding search indexes could attributes AFTER having rebuilt the member post histories ?

I still hope to find a way to improve this..

Versions prior to 6.1 did not actually attempt to perform any sorting on the recent posts index, as there are no dates in there.

I am on 5.45c and want to display recent posts on another website (ie the forum is hosted on one server and the website on another). I am guessing I need to upgrade to the latest version per Charles' post? Please advise-

Yes, if you are wanting to syndicate topics, you will want to upgrade to 6.7.1
