Deleted member cannot re-register

We occasionally delete inactive members. When they want to re-register, they can't. We have UBB.classic 6.5.0 set to allow only unique email addresses. Once someone has been deleted, it seems there email address stays in the system. Is there any way of deleting email addresses of those who are no longer Discussion Board members?

Rebuild your Member metadata and that should free things up.

Do you mean "rebuild member stat files"? under maintenance?
