I'm from the payableondeath.com ubb forums and I have a question about an anomaly that appears from time to time in one of the forums.

It's called the "no" post, what happens is every once and awhile, this post pops up, and it's always at the top of the page, the topic is "no" and the boxes where it should say "topic starter" and "replies" are all black, and the time it was posted is always "-- 12: AM" I'll provide a link so you can see what I'm talking about:
http://www.payableondeath.com/cgi-bin/fo...=1000&SUBMIT=Go

Now when you click on the "no post" it goes to this page: http://www.payableondeath.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/20-1001300.html, which is a non-existent page.

What I'd like to know is where on earth does this "no" post come from, and how can someone get rid of it? One time a member of the board got rid of it, and the topic was "07:52" PM, the topic starter was "6-16-01", and the replies were, "Jah Jah Wa®®io®! (a member's screen-name)"

Apparently he and one other person are the only people who know how to "kill" the "no" post, it's not really a good thing, because sometimes when it appears it eats screen names.

So what is the secret to getting rid of this bothersome post?

Thanks
Josh aka idk_2001

This is an old UBB 5 problem, ceratinly not a UBB6 bug so after I explain how to fix it i will be moving this thread into the UBB5 post install forum. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It's a corrupted thread that can be fixed one of two ways.

Hard way: Go to your control panel, chose edit/prine >> prune by date. Start with 2 days. When it returns the results your corrupted thread should be on the top. You should unselect all but that one and prune. BE careful! This screen works backwards of they way you think it does un UBB5! Make sure you are not pruning all BUT that thread. If 2 days doesn't locate it then try 20 and so on.

Easy way: Since you know it is thread number 1001300 then ftp to the server, to the Forum8 directory. Look for 01001300.cgi. It will probably be less then 20k in size where all of the rest are over 100k. Delete it and Forum8.threads. Go visit that forum now from a browser. That thread should be gone now.
