If you click on any of the forums that have been set up, I have been able to post some messages. The only problem now is I am unable to read them.

Can anybody help me out?

make sure your noncgi directory is writable, and the html directoy in each forum# directoy is writable, if you look in the html folder of the forum see if the html files are there. Let me know if it is.

Just another quick question, I was readin in another thread that is posted on this forum. Someone was saying that within the Non CGI folder you must have sub folders in there. Being Forum1 - Forum2 etc etc with another sub folder inside them ANNC. I have done this. Am I correct for doing it, or have I wasted my time.

well if your noncgi folder is writable the ubb should do this automaticly, like i said, it is probably not write, and that is why it can't create the html and stuff

Something else is wrong since the thread list files have been created but the threads haven't. What's the URL to your CP?

Just a thought <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I have just recieved an email from my serve stating that they have given the UBB folder write permissions, I went to the page to test and 404 error stills occurs.

URL for board: http://www.overdrive.com.au/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro

Once again just choose a topic and you cannot read the post.....

yeah that was me, i'm stumped, the only thing i can think of is that one of the scripts is messed up, in that case you should re-upload all the files in the cgi-bin directory. it's worth a shot <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

ok after thinking about this long and hard, i have come to a conclusion....

i think i figured it out <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

ok you created the folders manualy right?

the ubb is suppose to create the folders on it's own, so in your ubb directory you should have a structure like this...

UBB
&#0124;
&#0124;-Forum1
&#0124; &#0124;-HTML
&#0124; &#0124;-ANNC (not always)
&#0124;-Forum2
&#0124; &#0124;-HTML
&#0124; &#0124;-ANNC (not always)

etc....

well if you created the forum2 folder then it would have the abiltiy to write the files in there, but if there was no html file it can't create the html, your server is having problems creating folders on it's own, so you have to do all the creating, once the folder is created, then the server has no problem writing files in it..

Get back to me once you've taken a look at this <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> thanks

Gee I must sound like a pain in the arse....

Thanks guys, any other Ideas......

so you created the HTML directories, and still no luck? wow, i dunno what to say. have you tried running the ubb_test.cgi for write, permissions? try running that program, and type in the path to your noncgi directoy and see if it has write permissions. it's in the zip file

try and email your isp and make sure the html directories are writable too, and if they are then well sir, i dunno what else i can do.

i think you delted my username, cause Exstatica is no longer there anymore, i'll re-register, and make me a admin, thanks

oh P.S.

your webhost lied <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
the ubb folder is not writable
"Unable to write thread summary file No such file or directory"

if you have them make the ubb writable then all problems would be solved

Ok, I have just sent a nice abusive email to our ISP, but the thing I dont understand is if you try to go to my board, there are no messages at all..... Why was it that we were able to post before and now its like we are back to square 1, with a list of problems...

Confused.......

I have just recieved an email from my server and they have confirmed that my ubb folder has write permission......

It just dosnt make any sense...?

it doesn't make sense, cause the ubb shows that it is not writable. the reason you were able to post before is you created the directories, the server isn't giving the ubb permissions to create directories.

Well . . . . . what happens now. I have just written another email to server saying blah blah blah.... Do you thin that the permissions is the only problem...?

yeah, if you have to create the directories manually then your server isn't write on that directory,
