Hi,

I'm installing ubb onto Windows 2000, with apache.

When I run the test hello.cgi I get the following error in the apache error log:

[error] [client 127.0.0.1] couldn't spawn child process: c:/apps/apache1.3.14/cgi-bin/hello.cgi

and a 500 - Internal Server Error reported to the browser.

When I run the hello.cgi from the command line it works fine.

So I'm guessing this is a permissions thing ? In Apache ?

Is likely to be somewhere in the apache httpd.conf file ?
( I can't find the appropiate bit - needles and haystacks and all that )

Has anyone had this problem before and know the solution,
or have any idea ?

I'd be really grateful if someone could shed some light on the situation <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

( Had a look through the existing q.s but cant find anything similar ... )

For Apache, you need to set the perl path at the top of the scripts. Try it with the hello scripts.

For example:
#!c:/perl/bin/perl.exe

Note the forward slashes. There must be a ScriptAlias directive in the httpd.conf file pointing /cgi-bin/ to the cgi-bin in your Apache directories.
