UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums Thread Like Summary - Upgrade from 6.4.4

I'm taking over a forum that is running UBBThreads 6.4.4. I will likely be migrating away to Xenforo very soon, but in order to use an importer script to XF it looks like I'll have to upgrade to the latest version of UBBThreads... so it looks like I'll have to upgrade first to 6.5 then to 7.7.5 - does that sound right? Are all those upgrade scripts available in the Members area? I assume I'll have to buy a new license and then decide if it makes sense to pay for the professional upgraded service - not sure what potential issues I might run into in the upgrade process.

Any input from the UBB development staff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay that appears to be UBBThreads.
So yes you would upgrade to 6.5.5 then at least two more upgrades.
You would upgrade to ubbthreads 6.5.5 then import to like 7.57 or 7.60 before upgrading to the current version.

the caveats are.
One around ver 7.2 global moderators were introduced which sometimes causes a issue with moderators.being placed in the wrong group
Not really hard to fix.

The other is kinda big that is you need to downgrade your php version to like 5.4 to 5.6 till you get to the UBB7.7.X then you can change to php7.x
If your host does not allow that then you would need to do it on a local host then upload. Which you probably are already on say php 5.3 or 5,4 at your current host .


I think if you go through the upgrade you will find that if you look you will find many enhancements and bug fixes that are not in your current version and may decide to stay with UBB,

These versions of UBB.Threads weren't meant to be run on PHP5, they were written in a time of PHP4.

I just dug through the archive.org and it looks like UBB.Threads v6 had the system requirements listed as:
UBB.threads v6.5.3-v6.5.5
• MySQL versions 3.x and 4.x and will not run on MySQL version 5.x.
• PHP 4.1 and higher (4.3 and higher recommended)

UBB.threads v6.4-v6.5.2
• MySQL versions 3.x and 4.x and will not run on MySQL version 5.x.
• 4.0.1 and higher (4.1 and up recommended)

The recommended upgrade path to the latest build would be:
Upgrade UBB.Threads 6.4.x to UBB.Threads 6.5.5
Import UBB.Threads 6.5.5 into UBB.threads 7.2
Upgrade UBB.threads 7.2 to the latest build (7.7.x)

So you'd be looking at your project consisting of:
php 4.4.9 - ubbthreads-6-5-5.zip
php 5.2 to 5.6 - ubbthreads-7.0.0 to ubbthreads-7.6.2
php 5.4 to 7.4 - ubbthreads-7.7.0 to ubbthreads-7.7.4

Older builds of XAMPP will get you there

I'm not sure at what build Xen requires for their importer, not my script.
