What version are you currently running? This could happen if the user has two browser tabs open on the profile page.

Hi there,

maybe I can reply here, too. Mainzer and me we use UBB 7.2.2.
The error message always appears when changing preferences like stylesheet, time format etc...

It doesn´t matter if users have one or more browser tabs open. The error occurs anyway. Any ideas?

Basically the process is this:

When you first visit your profile/preference page a hash is created and saved to the database. That hash is put into a hidden variable on your profile/preference forms. When you submit, it checks to make sure that the hash from the form matches what was stored in the database.

If you're getting that error, then for some reason it's not matching.

Any script/template modifications added? Do you have any script/template modifications concerning those pages? Is it happening to everyone or just some?

It happens to all of our users, regardless who it is, user, mod or administrator. Mainzer and me we both work on that forum but we have no idea what could have caused the problem. We temporarily used a new stylesheet (ubb-threadsdark) which caused the effect that some smilies disappeared. So we removed that style from our page.

Sometimes posts have a strange look as you can see in the following screen:

Reply, quote etc. are out of allignment. Funny thing because it only happens to a few members.

Maybe the problem is easy to solve but it seems we do not see the trees in the middle of the forest.

Hmm, can I get a link to your forums so I can register and take a look? It may require a support ticket, but we'll start with just some basic troubleshooting.

Definitely some issues with the page generation going on. Right before the shoutbox, I'm seeing this:

-->

I'm assuming that this started happening at a certain point?

What I'd do for starters, is take out the custom header and just leave that blank. Try and get the page generating in the stock output format and see if that clears it up. If that still doesn't do it, then we'll need a support ticket opened to investigate further.

Thanks for registering and checking our site. Mainzer has just begun to put your first suggestions into practice. The --> definitely had an effect. We have no idea where it came from but as soon as he removed it things started to change. Changing the preferences is finally working now. We start adapting the header today and give you feedback asap.

P.S.: Any idea how to get additional links into boxes like Who´s online? or Top Posters? We couldn´t find anything about it in the documentation.

setup a custom island and enter HTML for links, then assign that island in the portal settings.
