Has anyone figured out how to have multiple user names for one registered account? I run a role-playing game where users can have multiple characters. Logging out and back in again is a bit of a pain for most of them. Has this been done yet?

Have them list their multiple display names in their signature, the same way that a PC forum user lists their computer specs, or a car forum lists their multiple vehicle mods.

other gamer forums use their sig lines to display the gamer names/codes for each console or game they play.

In addition, if needed, the user search page can be custom modded to not only search user names and locations, but also for items within a user's signature.

note: searching through signatures is already an admin feature through the 7.6.x control panel, iirc. this is not a current feature of the user facing "Search Users" page, but as mentioned, its simple to add.

I believe she wants a separate display name possible for each account, the names would be each character and the "game" is the forum itself. Basically a whole slew of display names/profiles that'd belong to a singular account.

It's kind of out of scope for a forum software title, and would only be used by a small subset of forum installs; so I don't see it as really being a useful stock feature. Especially the amount of time required to make it work...
