Since my upgrade of PHP and MySQL, when I go in to register, I get the date screen then the rules screen - and then it goes to a blank / failure page. If I go back a second time, I get the date screen and then it skips the rules page and properly shows the required fields page.

I'm getting many other users reporting the same issue.

You should be able to replicate this at http://forums.bellaonline.com.

It is valid, ignore the period at the end that thread tries to interpet as part of the url...

I know how it works and I can get to the site just fine, just saying she has a typo in her posted URL.

It's how threads auto converts urls vs how she wrote it

This was a 7.2 bug. It's been fixed in 7.2.1.

Well thought this site was using 7.21 for over 24 hours now and her post was last night not that long ago.

OK was the URL highlighting with the period a bug, or was the registration screen not working a bug? smile

The registration not working is a bug in 7.2 if you have any Forum Rules. It used an improper redirect which results in an error or a blank screen.

Shoot, I wasn't wanting to do another upgrade on this server, when they are building a new 2003 server for me. I can't just leave the forum without the ability to register, though, so I guess I am off to upgrade ...

You might want to add this to the 7.2.1 notes you link to from the news thread. I remember reading that when it came out, and just re-read it - it doesn't say anything about registration being completely shut down in 7.2 and being fixed in 7.2.1. I would have installed it immediately if I realized nobody could register in my forum smile

It's a royal pain every time I upgrade because I have to go through and re-edit it so people can't "turn off" the edit notice on their posts. We use our forums to run contests, and it would destroy the contests if people could edit their posts after the fact "silently" and then claim they answered a question correctly first.

I want to lobby again that you make that a standard global switch, whether people have the ability to edit silently or not, so I don't have to fix that with each upgrade. I have other changes I make, but they are cosmetic, not legally necessary.
