Hi,
I created Post A at 12.30pm - I then found Post B which has been created at 11.30am, and decided to merge this with Post A. The posts merged fine, with Post B above Post A as the time of the post was earlier and of course the subject of the thread altered.
However as I really wanted Post A at the top, I decided I would split these again. I tried moving Post A to another forum, but nothing happened, nor could I move Post B - I tried to delete Post A and was told that it could not be deleted as it was the first post in the topic (despite it now being the second), however despite this error it was deleted when I went back in.
I think I have reported the happenings correctly - but essentially having merged an older post with a newer post, I got problems when trying to split them again.
Maybe not a common occurrence, but it still didn't work quite as intended - certainly the only way I could split them, was to delete one post and recreate.
Thanks.

Sounds like "post is topic" is set to 1 on postA, eventhough it's now the second post and should have been removed..

It looks like our little Gizmo nailed this one on the head. It appears the problem was that when a post was merged it was clearing the POST_IS_TOPIC field on the first post of the topic that was being merged.
