can you view either of them? Having said that, I can't... but, I didn't expect to.... CMYK must be a PITA for developers. Just testing is all.

Yes - that's my point. I don't think CMYK travels well.
I think it's far too complicated for the 'net / 'web.
I am not a graphics guy, so I'm not sure; but I figure that CMYK is a graphics 'mode' or 'standard' or whatever that is not accepted (easily) by the internet.
Perhaps it is a 'publishing' or 'artwork' medium.
If anyone knows, I'd be happy to learn :-)

jpg png gif are the norm.
so you uploaded a image with cmyk as an extension? confused?
I use cmyk in photoshop all the time, but save for the web and then png or gif or jpg are offered as an option?

No Mark, a jpg but constructed in CMYK format.
It was just curiosity, as I have soooooh many CMYK problems - I really wouldn't expect a first-ditch attempt to work.
To be honest, I'm stunned that Rick has got as much working as he has!
Qudos dude!

To me, and i just choose options lol
In photoshop i have cymk or rgb
Basically 4 colour or 3 colour to me ?
I have various saved into jpg and never had any problems with hosting putting images on the net.
So my confusion is confused when you say that No Mark, a jpg but constructed in CMYK format.
What am i missing ?
you can say i'm just missing if its too long winded lol

CMYK is used for classic printing presses, the letters represent 3 colors plus black ink (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (Black)) used to combine to reproduce other colors. You don't need to use this mode to create graphics unless you're doing it for professional printing, and I think even these days RGB is acceptable for that. RGB is a 3-color (red, green, blue) combination of light (or ink) used by TV and computer displays and home printers, and pretty much everything else I believe. My guess is that a CMYK image on the web will simply be displayed as close to what's intended by your browser...

Thanks for clearing that up jgeoff.
I receive a lot of images in CMYK.
I guess companies pay for this so that their products can be displayed in magazines as well as the 'web.
When I try to upload them to the 'web - they don't seem to display (for me) ever...

Yes jgeoff, how other gallery software items support CMYK is to convert the CMYK color to its closest RGB color; Gallery2 is a perfect example

When I try to upload them to the 'web - they don't seem to display (for me) ever... Are you saying that the image isn't really that of a black square? Yeah, you'll wanna do what Gizmo suggested. Use Photoshop and "Save For Web..." -- that function uses the built in ImageReady to compress the files to smaller and make them web-compatible as jpg/gif/png ...

Well, the point here is that CMYK images aren't meant for the internet but the ability to post them should still be preserved (there are ways of doing this); but no matter what, said CMYK image would end up converted to RGB
