Price: US $199.00
ABOUT:For your consideration is another piece from my personal collection of retro gaming systems, a classic thin-form factor 486 PC like you would have seen adorning many office cubicles and POS terminals in the early 1990's. This PC has no hard drive, but it does have a working floppy which boots to an included DOS disk. With the included Soundblaster Vibra-class sound card, this would make a perfect compact DOS, Windows 3.1, or Win95 retro setup! Please remember that, while I am a retro tech enthusiast, I am not an expert on the specifics of any given piece of retro technology. Some small components may be missing that I am not familiar with, so please ask any questions BEFORE offerding. This is a piece of 1990's technology that is incomplete, and offerding on it constitutes an interest to tinker with the understanding of nearly guaranteed random hardware issues and unexpected hurdles common to retro 1992/93-era AST Advantage! compact desktop system• All-ISA architecture motherboard• Intel 486SX/33 CPU, no heatsink• 72-pin SIMM RAM sockets, 8MB RAM (2x 4mb)• 3.5" floppy (tested working)• Additional bay for a potential future 5" or CD drive upgrade• No hard drive installed, but IDE ribbon cable is included
• SoundBlaster CT2940 Vibra-class ISA sound card• On-motherboard integrated VGA graphics with support for 640x480 - 1024x768• ISA modem installed• DB9 serial, parallel, PS/2, game port
• The original AST rubber dome keyboard is included!• A matching beige C13 power cable is included!NOTE: The motherboard looks like it had traces for a CR2032 CMOS battery soldered-on (photo #14), there is no battery installed PC was lightly dusted and cleaned- it retains a bit of dust here and there but is inoverall clean condition considering the age. This unit did originally have a hard drive that was removed by the original owner, but retains its floppy drive and spare IDE cable. The CMOS battery is dead. The PC has normal levels of UV yellowing expected for pieces of this age with the keyboard having more white-tinted plastics. The PC chassis itself is clean with no heavy dust, no bugs or spiders, and no drop or abuse damage. The plastic retention clips holding the front panel on are all tired, the panel stays in place during use but you may accidentally pop it off while you're removing the metal shell for upgrades.
TESTING:This PC has been tested with a standard VGA 1080P LCD monitor and was able to power on, POST, enter the BIOS, and boot from the included DOS is a used, barebones, vintage PC that is offered ASIS for enthusiastrebuild or collecting. It is not a modern computer and will require tinkering to findcompatiblecomponents and get it fully functioning. I am offering this unit to another enthusiast with theunderstanding that the buyer is willing toundertake responsibility for the many repair and maintenance variables that come with antique computer components including such delicate tasks as floppy drive reconditioning and capacitor replacement. Due to the weight, this unit cannot ship to a PO Box, APO, or FPO.
