ABOUT: For your consideration is the original IDE Mac, the Quadra/Performa 630. This is the original forward-thinking platform that ended up being maligned during the PowerPC era due to its reuse of 16-bit PCB components. This version, however, offers an excellent 68K retro app and gaming experience in a modular chassis that supports comparatively modern IDE drives! To that end, this unit has been upgraded with an IDE to SATA adapter and a mini 16GB SATA SSD, partitioned with 2GB for MacOS 7.6.1, installed on the drive!
Due to the vintage nature of this Mac, it is offered as an enthusiast project, for retro tech enthusiast restoration, with the idea that there will be multiple hurdles to overcome, including floppy drive rebuild and logic board + power supply, re-capping of all the 30 year old electrolytic Original 1994 Performa 630CD / Quadra 630

You will need a VGA adapter to use this Mac with a modern LCD, readily available on & CONDITION: This Performa's chassis is in overall good shape with some light yellowing but no serious damage. These cases are VERY brittle, so this unit is in overall very good shape considering the age. The right front retention clip for the Mac's faceplate is missing. The right rear retention clip for the cosmetic plastic port cover was cracked and was re-glued. The original IDE drive sled is still installed, with the custom SSD taped to the sled and tape-wrapped to protect it from the steel walls of the case.
The included keyboard and mouse were sanitized with alcohol so they can be immediately used. The keyboard still has some grime and patina on the sides of the keys that could stand to be detail-cleaned if you so choose.
This unit was restored with a burned 7.6.1 disc using the original CD-ROM (discs not included). It was then restored with a series of apps including Photoshop 3, ClarisWorks 3, Tetris, Marathon, Stuffit Lite, and AfterDark using the internal floppy This Mac is considered A FUNCTIONAL PROJECT and is being offered to an enthusiast in working condition but with no guarantee of longevity. This unit is promised to have frustrating speed bumps and weird quirks during your ownership and an adventurous spirit is advised when delving into classic Macs!
