CONDITION NOTE: This system powers on, but has an error after memory check. The system displays the message:
“8042 Gate A20 Error – System Halted.”
This is a keyboard controller (8042) related error that was common on vintage 386-class PCs. It typically points to an issue with the keyboard controller chip, the PS/2/AT keyboard port, or related circuitry. Because of this, the machine does not proceed to boot.
This is a late-era IBM PC/AT-compatible desktop, sold as the TRA386 by TR Associates and manufactured/marketed by Parcorp (Model EXO-88ADB-BA1U, FCC ID E3EEX-88ADB). Under the hood it’s an Everex-built 80386SX AT clone, typical of 1992 business and educational PCs.
