Vintage Retro AT Clone PC 486DX-33 20MB •Floppy VGA Soundblaster AWE32 Keyboard
Price: US $299.00
ABOUT:For your consideration is another piece from my personal collection of retro gaming systems, a classic custom AT mini tower, representative of early 90's all-ISA architecture before the move to PCI and eventually the ATX standard. This unit has NO hard drive, but does have a 3.5" floppy, 5.25" floppy, a free IDE bus, and has been tested to POST and BOOT from a DOS floppy. This is a clean project ready for enthusiast restoration. Please remember that, while I am a retro tech enthusiast, I am not an expert on the specifics of any given piece of retro technology. Some small components may be missing that I am not familiar with, so please ask any questions BEFORE offerding. This is a piece of 1990's technology that is incomplete, and offerding on it constitutes an interest to tinker with the understanding of nearly guaranteed random hardware issues and unexpected hurdles common to retro 1993-built AT Socket 3 mini-tower desktop system with wonderfully generic "Wholesale Computers" case badge• Intel 486DX-33 CPU w/ no heatsink• 30 SIMM RAM sockets, 20MB RAM (all slots filled, likely 4x1mb + 4x4mb)• 3.5" floppy (tested working)• 5.25" floppy (mechanism tests on POST, drive is untested)• No hard drive installed, but IDE ribbon cable is included
• SoundBlaster CT3600 AWE32 sound card with EMU sound chip• VGA + CGA Deico ISA graphics card• ISA modem installed• ISA card with what appears to be DIN-9 serial(?) installed• DB9 + DB25 serial, parallel, AT plug• ISA riser card with floppy + IDE connectors, second IDE bus on the sound card• Vintage original AT-clone case with original power supply
• CMOS battery is dead
• This computer's original AT hybrid dome keyboard is included!• This computer's original grey C13 power cable is PC was lightly dusted and cleaned- it retains a bit of dust here and there but is inoverall very clean condition considering the age. This unit did originally have a hard drive that was removed by the original owner, but retains its floppy drive and spare IDE cable. The CMOS battery is dead. Both the PC and keyboard case plastics have less-than-average levels of UV yellowing expected for pieces of this age (they were retired from an office with no windows). The PC chassis itself is clean with no heavy dust, no bugs or spiders, and no drop or abuse damage. Keyboard has some cosmetic grime under the keycaps that might call for detail cleaning.TESTING:This PC has been tested with a standard VGA 1080P LCD monitor and was able to power on and POST. The installed 3.5" floppy was tested to boot to a DOS test floppy where all the keys of the keyboard were tested working (See is a used, barebones, vintage PC that is offered ASIS for enthusiastrebuild or collecting. It is not a modern computer and will require tinkering to findcompatiblecomponents and get it fully functioning. I am offering this unit to another enthusiast with theunderstanding that the buyer is willing toundertake responsibility for the many repair and maintenance variables that come with antique computer components including such delicate tasks as floppy drive reconditioning and capacitor replacement. Due to the weight, this unit cannot ship to a PO Box, APO, or FPO.
