I already have several Bose SoundTouch products installed to create audio streaming throughout the house. The Bose SoundTouch Adaptor is well made and relatively easy to set up and use. Once set-up it works reliably. It links to an existing amplifier and speakers to create a streamed amplifier. It can be linked to a wide variety of streaming services including Spotifty, Amazon Music and others and also to a NAS if you have one. There are no external controls on the Adaptor and you use a Bose SoundTouch app. for control e.g. which streaming service to use and the speaker volume. One thing to point out is Bose have announced that they are discontinuing some SoundTouch products including the Wireless Adaptor. This makes the devices obsolete and unsupported. Sooner or later the SoundTouch app. which controls the devices may become incompatible with PC's and smart phones. Bose have stated that they will continue to support the SoundTouch App. but have not guaranteed for how long. Bose may provide an upgrade path but if it's like the one from Sonos it means you will be faced with a significant re-investment. If you are extending an existing SoundTouch system you may be prepared to take the risk and purchase more Bose SoundTouch equipment but if you are starting from scratch, make sure you ask Bose how long they intend to support the product range and perhaps look at alternative options too. Since it was an older model, It would not respond to the APP properly. Had to call Bose to update the software on the unit. This took a while since it appeared the APP could not activate the device and only after the tech rep checked the version of SW via a micro USB hookup did we discern the problem. So, recommend updating device as soon as installed. Did not see this recommended elsewhere.

I got this because I don't think there are any other products on the market that quite fulfill the niche that this one does - a standalone dongle that supports both Bluetooth and AirPlay. Being Bose, it's not cheap, even used, but you get what you pay for - operation is very easy, and it integrates with the Bose SoundTouch ecosystem if you already have some of those products. Four stars only because for this price, it should support higher quality Bluetooth codecs.

The unit is nice WHEN you can get the internet to connect. That one issue is a five minute per use pain in the neck. Connectivity is always a problem. It can be rectified after constant reseting of the back switch. The good part is that when it works it is very nice to walk around the house and play what suits your fancy.

I didn't think this device would work as well as it does. It allows me to steam music from my phone or computer to my Bose Wave and enjoy the quality sound the Wave provides. Highly recommended!
