Adds 2 high-speed USB 3.0 ports to a PC with a PCIe slot. (That's the slot with 2 short sockets.) Easily installs like any PC card. Win7 PC detected the new card and installed drivers automatically. Optional short bracket if you have a compact PC case. I/O speeds 60-65 mbps vs 11-14 mbps from USB 2.0 ports.

I had 2 problems with this card. 1. I was unable to install the low profile bracket with the screws provided, they were too short and there is a slight different in the way the low and high profile brackets are made. I was able to use screws from an old part, but that took a lot more effort than it should have. 2. After installing the card, I connected the SATA to MOLEX power cable, and then found that I would not be able to close the case due to the power connection extending over 1/2 and inch up from the card. Low profile cards are meant to be used in small form factor cases, which do not normally provide that much clearance between the top of the card and the case. I would be willing to give the card more than one star if it were not for the problems I had with installing the low profile bracket, which are indicators of poor quality control or lazy product testing.Read full review

Another reviewer mentioned the placement of the Molex power plug on this unit. If you install this on a small form factor computer (Like an HP Compaq 6000 or 8000, the incoming power lines for the Molex fitting make closing the lid on the compter a problem. I got it to work in an HP Compaq 5800 computer because the case was slightly taller, so it works in that computer.

Bought this for older motherboard that did not have usb3 support. Could not be more happy with the price, performance and ease of installation on windows 7 64bit. I bought this usb3 controller for two reasons. First reason I have several other Orico products that have never let me down and second reason it had the 20 pin connection for the usb3 ports on my newer computer case.I have had this card for 6 months now and have had no issues and transfer speed our on par with the usb3 standards.

This card has more than I could expect for anything close to the price. It has speeds of at least 10 times the USB 2 I was using for my external hard drives. I plugged it into the PCI slot because the PCI-E was taken and it didn't mind that, but the most impressive thing was the time it took to install. I plugged it in, locked the latch in place and turned the computer on. Windows 10 had it installed and working before I could even plug something in to test it. I can't wait to get the cable to add the 2 front plugs with the 20 pin internal port.
