Still very relevant for a 9 year old computer. First gen i5 still able to do what I need it to do. Mechanical hard drive seems a little sluggish because I've grown used to SSD, but if I hadn't been using SSD for the last 3 years I would barely notice. Like most Mac users I think, we put our computers to sleep anyway, so there's no boot-time wait very often. It does get a little warm if you work it but there's a very easy solution - Macs Fan Control. As I write this my CPU heatsink temp is 29; the cores at 33 and the GPU die at 36. The fans are cranked up mid-way but you still can't hear it. I've been a computer tech for 25 years, and a cool computer is a very happy computer for a much longer life. It's much bigger than I expected, with a beautiful 27" display that outperforms my 30" Apple Cinema Display on my Mac Pro. The colors are bright and vivid, with no motion blur while watching 1080 video. I don't play video games, so I can't comment on performance there. I'd guess given it's age that any new titles would bring it to it's knees. Overall, I'm very happy and satisfied with my first iMac. It's not my primary computer, but it serves it's new purpose perfectly and I love how it looks and performs. Very definitely worth the price I paid, and unless you're bit-coin mining or playing the latest game titles, I think most people would be very happy with it.Read full review

As of this moment, I have owned it for a little over a month, it has been in the shop close to two weeks, Now mind you the first couple days were for upgrades being done, RAM, Hard drive but the backlight board went out, and now it seems to have a power supply issue. Not happy with purchase, Buyers regret. So far have spent over two hundred in repair and still have another repair bill waiting. Thought I had a great buy, turns out it wasn't.

I use this older iMac as a secondary monitor for my MacBook Pro and I love it. It makes the iMac run a little hot for some reason (considering it’s not using the processor, etc) but a small USB fan clamped to the back of the display seems to keep it all cooler. Although this iMac’s OS can’t be upgraded anymore, it can still be used (immediately) to surf the net, etc. whenever I disconnect my laptop.

This second-hand iMac has been performing flawlessly. I did have to reinstall the operating system, though.

MY 2nd imac. 1st time using Macs. Great all in 1 unit. IT's both esthetic and functional. Relatively easy to use. Excellent screen. I'm just starting to explore it's potental.
