My MicroSoft Office had corrupted. I could not see investing a "large" amount of money. When I happened across Open Office, it appeared to be the answer that I sought. It is! After an easy install, it opened all of my docs and spreadsheets allowing me to save them in the Office 97 format. The settings allows you to set this up as default. GREAT!! I am back in business, almost at no cost! What a relief!! Thank you!

It is slow & sluggish. Does not load with any speed at all. Does not always respond to commands. Does not want to open documents all too often. In general the product is frustrating and not totally dependable. Have found it necessary to shut down computer completely in order to reopen the program to complete a task. It locks up all too often and will not respond to prompts or commands. I am sure there are better programs with faster and more dependable results than this one.

Just installed the product into my laptop. Very easy to install; excellent instructions. After installation, I used the word processor to determine how similar it was to what I have on my home computer. I could hardly tell the difference. I have not opened the other operations as yet. I shall do that during the next several days. So far, so good!

Once you get used to the format of Open Office, it works well. I like being able to save docs in the Microsoft Word formats.

I like it because it also corrects my spelling if I accidently spell something wrong. And it lets me choose which font to use and also highlight words and also make them BOLD. I haven't used the Spread sheet yet. But did look at it. That is going to be my next project with working with it. You should be able to use it anyway you want to. It is all up to date on words.
