I have had very good luck with Acer computer products, so when deciding to purchase a larger screen monitor, I did a little research on my own, to find out what monitors had that set them appart from the others. I found that while some big names with good reviews were a safe buy, I didn't want to spend the big bucks that it took to own one, so I realized somewhere below the clouds, I could find a medieum priced, fully functionable monitor with some features that would make owning and operating a computer easyier. The Acer met most of the other monitors and their features on an even level, and from availability and repairability with price and functions I found both the Samsung and the Acer to be very competitive with each other. The Acer was not the cheapest, it cost approximately 12.00 more but it was thinner which made the monitor fit better on my desk and I already owned a Samsung 22" monitor, so I bought the Acer to see if I would like it better. I compared the two monitors with size, adjustability, weight, size of border, ease of operation, access to the controls and quality of picture. They are unbelievably close in all catagories, but the Acer took a slight lead in that it was thinner and lighter. I found that the thing that I didn't like about the Acer, the adjustability, the Samsung also had the same problem, which was that they both will not lower down more than 3 and a half inches off the desk. My area is tight and my keyboard is omly 1 and three quarter inches so I have an area that I am blessed with being able to see cords, dust and stuff that I don't need to see. My wife is short and she sits lower than I do so her neck bothers her from looking up. For me, I'm tall so I look down more, but I get to hear her complain about looking up. You choose for yourself, but neither monitor will go down any lower and It's a problem for us. The picture is very good on both monitors so Acer is as good as Samsung. My biggest difference that I like about the Acer over the Samsung is the ability to see the controls. The Samsung has dark controls that blend into the frame and are hard to see without light, while the Acer has a silver button and a silver area around the on and off button, which is easy to see with low light and is located in the center of the Monitor. I rate them both very good, with the Acer having a slight advantage by being thinner, lighter and controls easyier to see.Read full review
I Love acer. They ahve made such head way in the PC world. I own two of these and love them! The resolution is great and the high quality construction make this mointor a huge hit. Bigger is better for both work and entertainment. The Acer AL2216Wd LCD supports 1.2 times more pixels then a standard 19" LCD, and thanks to the 16:10 aspect ratio, you can fit more on the screen, making it easier to edit and compare documents. The blazingly fast 6ms gray-to-gray response rate provides the best in action-packed gaming and movies. * Anti-reflective coating * VESA wall-mountable * Fully automatic auto-tune feature * Friendly OSD user interface
I just purchased my 2nd one of these(first one is awesome). Acer made this monitor pretty well. There isn't a whole bunch of advanced features but you can get it pretty close to whatever your looking for if you tinker with the settings. For those of you after a really high quality (hd) display then don't waste your time and look for something in the $250-$350 range. i have one connected to my media server and one on hand at all times when i connect my laptop up at home. I really believe this monitor was made for gamers and media junkies on a budget. For the ones who want something a little bit more visually tantalizing than the monitor grandma got you 4 years ago for your birthday.
I researched on the 22in. monitors and found this Acer to meet my requirements and price range. Great monitor for gaming and graphics. I love to play high end games online as well as off. My whole family is amazed at the clarity and size. I enjoy it as well to use for powerpoint presentations for church and doing multiple forms at the same time. I dont have any negatives about this monitor and recommend this Acer highly. The prices are still coming down and soon the 24in. monitors will be close behind. I am satisfied with this size and price. I am sure there are other monitors that are more expensive but for what I payed you can not go wrong! Chock one up for Acer! I will enjoy this monitor for years to come. Next game pleeease!!!
This monitor is perfect for the price and size. The color is warm and the images crisp. I have used this monitor as both my main screen and an extension of my desktop in both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.5 with great results. I have played games on the monitor including Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Call of Duty 4, with great refresh rates. Brightness of the monitor was a bit low for starters but after a quick adjustment it was spot on and remains that way to this day. I plan to buy two more of these monitors in the very near future, one for the wife and another for a dual monitor setup for myself. I highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking to expand your desktop realestate.
