    Solid choice for a 2.5" drive but do not purchase for any device that cannot accommodate a 12.5mm thickness.

    Ignore what the other guy said. Giving something a poor rating because of your ignorance and/or failure to do proper research is just wrong. This IS a 2.5" drive. The 2.5" figure is not a measure of the thickness (height) of the drive. There are three typical thicknesses; 7mm which is for Ultra books and ultra portable devices, 9.5mm which is the typical laptop size and 12.5mm which this ST9500530NS is, which is typically used in servers and early large capacity pocket USB drives. No where is it suggested or implied that this drive will fit in a laptop. This is a fast drive that should last a very long time as it is an enterprise level part, meaning it is intended to endure years of 24/7 service. This also means that a used drive is likely to have upwards of 40,000 "power on" hours but ...
