Arrived extremely well packed and in good order, plus two separately ordered blank 450GB, almost new, Seagate HDDs. Needs USB type keyboard and mouse. Installed free Oracle LINUX 7.6 from DVD. Updated old (2013) BIOS, iDRAC 6, PERC 200A and 32bit diag firmwares after installing DELL Systems Update package. Updated Oracle LINUX with GENOME desk top option. Excellent for web browsing etc. Configured and started Apache server with "Hello World" homepage. A little noisy for use on my desk top, even when set for minimum power etc. Very noisy for a few seconds on power up. All in all a great success. Recommended if you can persevere with configuring software to make it useful. Now all up to date and good for next 10 years hopefully.

Very nice item. I have managed to install windows server 2019 installed and working well. I have managed to get another 16GB taking me up to 32GB. My server came with 2x500GB and 2x2TB matched drives; so I put them on raid one. The controller is very good and the machine is very responsive. This server, (although 8 years old) is more than capable still, of working for another 10 years. When it gets old and tattered, Ubuntu server has already been tried and tested on it and worked well. A steal for £95 + £22 (extra memory)+£16 (windows server key) It is so good, i am thinking about getting 2 x 6TB raid one drives (new). Even still, it is worth the investment.

I setup ESX5.0 Hypervisor on this for a test Lab. Worked fine. Also ESX 6.0 with VCenter!!! Got Three DCs, a File Server, AV Server Terminal Server and a couple of random test Servers. And it runs good enough for a test Lab. Had to by new Disks as the two provided were too small. I went for a couple of Baracudas. Gave me loads of space. Overall I would recommend these as a second hand piece of kit. If you have the space a couple will give you more than enough compute to setup a basic ESX Cluster and get Vcenter and so on running (if you wanted) I haven't tried it but I reckon it will sail away with Hyper V too. Anyway I guess you wil only be buying this if you are a techie so I wont go on about the Bios, Raid and so on as I reckon you will be able to sort that yourself. Good Luck
