I had to have the network card for the printer, as the newer versions of Windows doesn't have support for installing and using the printer locally. Both the 615n and the 620n work in my printers. The 615n has failed repeatedly and needed to be replaced while the 620n has never failed for me. If the 615n is cheap enough it makes sense to buy a couple of them and have one on hand when the other dies.
