Setting Permissions with WS_FTP

The following instructions will help you set permissions appropriately if you are using the WS_FTP client.

1.       Connect to your server.

2.       Highlight a file or folder on which you want to set permissions.

3.       Right click and select chmod. A small box will appear.

NOTE: This box does not show the current file permission, but rather the last CHMOD setting you used.

 

For chmod 777, click all the boxes.

For chmod 755 on the left column click all, on the middle and right click top and bottom check, leave the middle blank.

4.       Click ok.

5.       To review what is set and what is not, click the �dir info� button.

You will see:

drwxrwxrwx a directory that is 777
-rwxrwxrwx a file that is set to 777

drwxr-xr-x a directory that is 755
-rwxr-xr-x a file that is 755
