The advantage of an external PSU is that it removes a heat source from within the Apple II case. The advantage of a new PSU is the reliability and endurance of a new PSU over a 40+ year old one. And the advantage of our external power supply is that it may be used with either an Apple II,II+,IIe or an Apple IIGS!!
These units use the exact same brand new SinPro universal PSU units that we use in our refurbished II/II+/IIe and IIGS PSU units. The SinPro units have a proven track record for reliability, stability and endurance.
Our external PSUs feature a lighted ON/OFF power switch with fuse and the case measures approximately 7.5 x 4.5 x 2.5" (200mm x 120mm x 75mm). The cable is nominally 18" case-to-plug and exits the case via a rubber gromet to ensure that the wires are not worn bare over time as well as to prevent undue stress pulling the cable out from the case. Internally, the uPSU sits 6mm above the raised platform, providing space between the case and the raised platform and between the platform and the uPSU itself. Each unit comes with both an Apple II/II+/IIe connector and an Apple IIGS connector. These connectors allow you to quickly & conveniently connect the external PSU to the computer without necessitating opening of the computer each time. Simply install the connectors in your Apple II/II+/IIe and IIGS, close the computers up, and connect the external PSU to whichever computer needed at that time.
