Updates will be coming more frequently now that we are rolling again.

The UBB.Threads development team has identified a serious exploit that can allow a standard user to obtain elevated permissions on UBB.threads forums and upload malicious files.

To protect yourself from the vulnerability, patches must be immediately applied if you are running version 7.3 and later. Patches for each version are now available for download in the member’s area of UBBCentral.com:

To apply the patch upload the files provided in the patch to the appropriate directories in the UBB.threads installation on your server, overwriting the existing files.

We are excited to announce that we are moving forward with UBB.threads and are planning to release version 7.6 in the next 6-8 weeks. Sirdude has been brought on board as the primary developer and along with myself, Gizmo and Ruben (special thanks to them) we have been gathering together a new feature set as well as bug fixes for the 7.6 release.

Work has already started on the development side and we should have the complete list of features and bug fixes posted up next week. We have a beta testing server setup, if you are interested in testing please send a private message to Sirdude.

We are also evaluating mobile options for UBB such as tapatalk.com which would bring your forums into the iOS and Andriod platforms with a native mobile look/feel as well as a full set of functionality . This would most likely be an add-on option for UBB.threads 7.6+ and brought online between 7.6 and the next major release.

Also in the works is a re-designed ubbcentral.com to bring a fresh look to the site and the software it's promoting.

We appreciate everyone's feedback good and bad and would like to stress that we need the support of the UBB.threads community/forum owners to continue the development of UBB.threads. This includes feedback, beta testing, keeping your support active, etc. We are considering other supporting revenue streams to support development as well, such as featuring your forum on our features page: http://www.ubbcentral.com/features.php . Recently I've reached the conclusion that I haven't been able to run UBB as a business properly. Unable to fund a full staff for coding has led to delays and such and I've been unable to meet the deadlines I've wanted to meet. As many of you know, I've always had a day job along with coding and running UBB. Later this month my family and I will be moving out of state for a new job which will limit my time even more.

So, with that all being said, UBB has a new owner, and I'll be staying on as a consultant to ease the transition.

The hosting business of Mindraven isn't going anywhere, my wife pretty much runs that, and it remains that way.

I know everyone is wondering what's going on with v8, so I thought I'd give a quick update. We are still plugging along with it. We hit a snag with the theme system where it wasn't turning out to be as flexible as we wanted it, so we had to work through that.

Scott has been out the past month due to illness and a hospital stay, so we need to finish up the pieces that he was working on, so it's just Jake and I currently, but we don't have a lot left.

I realize that we've neglected the changelog a bit and not doing any updates recently, but will try and get some updates in there as time permits.

My apologies for the delays on this. I know you're all anxious for it, just as we are anxious to get it out to you guys.
