A new edition will come out each year. So far we have sold over 4,624 of these blue books since they came out early in 2014, that number keeps going up every day and we will show the sales each year... Check out the feed backs, Collectors love these books. Now the coolest thing about this book you can easily carry it with you to flea markets, yard sales, antique shops, and trap conventions. Collectors thank us over and over again every time they use this Price Guide, Making the other out dated floppy price guides useless and obsolete to the collector. Don't buy or sell any traps without first looking at this New 2020 Price Guide. The New 2020 Blue Book buyers guide offers a real world look at the current trap market. ( The prices payed on are not always the true value of collector traps, sometime they are higher and sometime they can be lower but these sales can effect the actual trap price. If you can't find it in this book, it's simply not collectable. The traps in this book are not in alphabetical that would be confusing,,,, They're in the order by the names of the companies that made them. This is by far the best way to find the trap price your looking for and makes this New (full size) Blue Book very user friendly. The New Blue book has just been professionally redone including the index as you can see, dark, bold print and larger then most. Robert Vance's Prices Guides have been used and trusted by All Trap Collectors around the world for the last several decades now and have Sold in the 10s of thousands, making Robert Vance the Who's Who in vintage trap price guides. Robert Vance has passed and he will be missed, but will always be known for his valuable information he shared on antique steel animal traps to the buyers and sellers. Always remember any other price guides you find on traps today other then Vances would be somewhat of a copy of his books. That's why The New 2020 BLUE BOOK was printed... In this NEW 2020 Blue Book Price Guide the prices are for "Very Good" condition traps only or above grades. Reason being that traps that are graded in "Good" condition wouldn't even be collectable, "Good" means: Not To Good A Shape! 95% of all collector traps must be in Very Good condition to be collectable. "Buyers Beware"!! The other price guide on that was co-authored by two guys has the Good condition prices in it but has the Very good prices under the good condition.. Seasoned collectors would know this but a beginner would be paying way to much for a trap in that condition.. This would be very confusing and useless to a new collector or anyone as far as that goes..... When collecting traps or anything else as far as that goes its all about the Condition, Condition, Condition...... Only the RAREST of traps that are extremely difficult to find would be collectable - maybe in the " GOOD" condition. Here again, these "Good" condition traps would be priced considerably lower, like half the price of a trap in "Very Good" condition or even less, Remember that's what make them collectable is the condition. Collectors of RARE high priced traps demand quality traps. When big money is being spent the collector demands pristine condition. Remember these collectors can afford to be picky. Traps must be complete, no visible repairs, or missing parts with readable pans. Note: The older Newhouse traps you must be able to read the spring stamping for it to grade in the Very Good condition category . About all collectors want to be able to read the trap springs, otherwise the trap would be in Good condition and not that desirable to the collector. Another thing that Robert Vance learned collectors about collecting traps!
For the last 15 years everyone wanted to know about the old retail guides by Robert Vance and how to use them, Think about it, It's just a guide. Some said that the guides were to high and some said they were to low, that tells me they are right in the middle (Perfect). The answer wasn't to print another big retail book or to copy one of our books. Anyone running around buying traps or making offers on traps using a Big Out Dated retail Price Guide...This is what didn't make sense. That is another reason this 2020 updated Blue Book makes the other guides obsolete. Ex: You walk into a car dealer to sell your car and the first thing the dealer does is he pulls out a "Kelly Blue Book" , ( If it wasn't for the KELLY BLUE BOOK could you imagine what these car dealers would be pulling.) If you walk into a coin store to sell your coins, the person behind the counter reaches into his pocket and pulls out a "Blue Book". same thing happens with guns, knives or anything collectable, Then when they go to sell, they look to the Red Book or retail book.
{COLLECTORS NOTE:} Beware... Anytime you hear a Collector and this is generally the Old Know It All's or think they know it all say "I don't like Price Guides and don't even use them", He's a skinner, He's out to beat ya! one reason these guys they don't like price guides, when one of these skinners go to a Widows house and the Widow pulls out one of Robert Vances Price Guides these guys just hate it, it's game over! they turn around and walk away. If they think you know anything about what the traps are worth their not interested... When these Price Guides first hit the market years ago these same guys thought it was wrong to let the people know what these old antique traps were worth. These guys loved looking at a table full of traps and saying I'll give you a few bucks for this or that trap, and then walking away with a few hundred dollar trap.... This is what it was all about. The release of these books put a stop to what they had going on and put the seller on more of a level playing field. Another thing they were doing was going to sales and sales and would set there and pay a quarter or fifty cents for a 2 or 3 hundred dollar trap. But here was the best one these guys were pulling, they were getting into these old widows collections that didn't have one of Vance's Price Guides and the first thing they would ask was, Did your husband have a list of his traps? or do you have any idea what you want for his traps? and if these widows would say I don't know of any lists and I don't know anything about traps or what they are worth, it was pretty well a done deal. These guys would offer whatever they felt like offering for the traps, here again they wouldn't need to use a price guide because the offer they were going to make would be so low that they wouldn't even want to talk about a price guide. There is not one of them that can say they didn't get their traps this way. This is what the whole thing was all about, picking up traps for a little bit of nothing. Now you can see how they got their big collections. This was going on for years and some of these guys were making a living doing this. This is why they don't want anyone to know the value of these traps. Until Vance's Price Guides came out not many people had any price information about traps. Now you can understand why this tight knit group don't like Vance's Price Guides and say they don't use them. They don't even mention Robert Vance in the books they put out like he didn't even exist.... They're in their own little world and that world is getting smaller all the time. On the other hand we sell 1000s of Vances price guides and 99.9% of All collectors use and love these books because they find out what their traps are worth and want to learn as much as they can about trap collecting and trap prices. Remember most people work hard for their money and don't want to pay $200.00 for a $10.00 trap and get skinned by one of these crooks. We hope that this will clear up any and all questions concerning price guides and how they work and why people love them. If you know of anyone that has a trap collection that don't know what their traps are worth and they are a friend, this would make a great gift. This New 2020 Blue Book Price Guide is owned by the Hutzel Trap Company and cannot be bought at any other Supply House or Dealer. Lets make Trap Collecting Great Again in 2020!
