Here\'s a 5 x 7 view camera manufactured in the early 1890\'s by the Blair Camera Co. in Boston. The camera features the patented Blair Reversible Back, which can be removed, remounted and oriented for either landscape or portrait photography. Included also is a 5 x 7 double-slide plate holder.As you can see in the photographs, the camera is in good shape throughout, and the original glass focusing plate is clear and undamaged. The 5 x 7 Scovill lens is in excellent condition, with clear elements and an undamaged brass barrel. The lens throws a crisp image against the focusing plate. The Scovill lens board has been enlarged to fit the camera\'s lens board opening, with thin extensions on all four sides. The rack and pinion focusing is a bit tight in places, but it\'s still working okay, and the front standard advances and retreats along the rails as it was designed to do. The wood finish is original and in good condition, with some wear evident, but no significant finish deterioration. There\'s an ancient glue repair to the lower left front standard, where it joins the camera bed (see pics); otherwise, the camera body is in good shape. Camera fittings are original and in good condition, and the patina on all the brass and nickel parts is quite nice. No fittings are missing, and no fittings are incorrect. The camera folds up neatly and looks good from any angle. That\'s about it.
