1913 TIN LITHOGRAPH ADVERTISING TRAY VIENNA ART CALENDAR PLATE ASTI PRETTY GIRL
Price: US $348.00
Very rare and stunningly beautiful, 1913 Tin Lithograph Advertising Calendar Tray / Vienna Art Plate featuring a beautiful "Pretty Girl" type image of a Young Woman in the style of Angelo Asti.

This fantastic and very rare, chromolithograph on tin Advertising Calendar Tray measures approx. 10" in diameter and features a bust portrait of a beautiful young woman wearing a low cut dress which exposes her upper breast and left shoulder. She wears a sprig of holly in her hair and stares dreamily to the right. The Tray features a rim with elaborate, Art Nouveau style design that includes monthly calendars for the year 1913. The back of the Tray features advertising for Schott Brothers - a Fraser, Michigan Grocer that is still in operation today as Schott's Supermarket!!

As stated above, the back of the Tray carries no manufacturer' s / lithographer's mark however in all likelihood the Tray was manufactured by The H. D. Beach Co. or the Meek Co. of Coshocton, Ohio.

The image of the beautiful, young woman is not signed by the artist but is executed in the "Pretty Girl" genera introduced by Artist Angelo Asti. Asti burst upon the American Advertising Art scene in 1904 with his first Art Nouveau style image of a beautiful, buxom girl titled “Colette”. He originated what is called the “pretty girl” style of Advertising Art - "Pretty girl" art is a term used to refer to painting of a glamour art nature that was done by mainstream illustrators. It found its audience among popular magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Cosmopolitan and in the world of advertising.

This rare and very beautiful, 1913 Tin Litho Advertising Calendar Tray is in very good, original condition. The colors are bright and vibrant - rich and warm and no significant areas of surface loss or damage. There are less than a handful of small surface blemishes to the central image area but there are surface nicks and surface loss to the very edge of the rolled rim. Overall this wonderful, 1913 Tin Litho Advertising Tray / Calendar Plate is very well preserved and displays beautifully.

A very beautiful and very rare, 1913 Tin Lithograph Advertising Beer Tray / Calendar / Vienna Art Plate featuring a beautiful "Pretty Girl" type image and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
