A quite charming piece of millinery, this unusual antique hat brim and lining are made with colorful straw that is hand embroidered onto a net ground. Arts and Crafts style designs and deep warm colors add to the charm. The design looks a bit like stylized cherries or berries. The brim was intended to be turned back away from the face to show the colorful artwork. The is only part of a hat, as the covering for the crown deteriorated and was removed long ago. The crown is now just the sheer netted lining, as shown. This could be restored or re-used for the interesting hand work and design. A really nice bit of millinery history and creative Craftsman era design. Dates from the \'Teens era, 1914 to 1919. Selling \"as found\" and as is\". More photos shown below. Thank you for looking.
