N°. 6 BOAT TAIL RACE CAR
Made by Tippco,in Germany, in about 1920 of all lithographed tin construction with a wind-up motor, permanent key, and a driver. Normally known for their small penny toys, this, the N°. 6 race car measures a magnificent 10 inches long by 3 3/4 inches wide and tall. There is a nicely detailed grill and most of the \"TCO\"logo to the top of it. The (bonnet) hood is fully louvered giving it a very realistic look.. The wind-up motor is on the verge of working, and sometimes will catch and work but it needs looking at. The original paint has what looks like a couple of long-ago touch-ups or old blemishes (the top back, behind the driver) and the driver, where he`s connected to the seat. also the front wheels show a small bit of wobble and all four have play wear to the tread. Someone had scratched their name to the bottom (Gordon) and it is dated April 11, 1929. Then add some dings and scrapes, and about 95 years of patina, and you are left with one stunningly beautiful and ancient race car that could be a highlight in any automotive, racing or German tin toy collection.
