1939 Martin Handcraft Imperial #2 Bore Trumpet: The sleeper Committee
Price: US $800.00
Up for sale through the shop is a 1939 Martin Handcraft Imperial Trumpet in original lacquer:
One from my personal collection but since I play Adams instruments these days this horn needs to find a home!
This is one of the #2 medium step bore models. I love the easy blow and feel of this bore. I had a #3 bore HCI and prefer this #2 model far over the harder to play and IMO not as diverse #3 bore models.
Great original shape considering the age. When I got it had a bent bell but other than that all it arrived in nice shape. We spend a bunch of hours cleaning, aligning, straightening, and other work. Good compression, fantastic valve action, slide action, and ready for another 60 years of playing! No majortrauma even with the bell issue we straightened out. There\'s still a bit of residual bending on the end flair but I definitely did not want to take the bell off and cause more stress to this instrument! It plays so well I have chose to keep it as close to original as possible.
This is only a few digits away from the famous Handcraft Committee and in 1939 it was the absolute top of the line for the Martin Company. I personally prefer it over theCommittee horns as the slotting, response, and intonation. Check out the video of this horn in action. I have many more videos of me playing this horn on YouTube. I love this horn and am sure to miss it but with hundreds of horns in the shop we have to clear out some inventory for new arrivals.I have seen these sell on for over $1500. Handcraft Committee trumpets start around $3000... save a ton on this amazing horn! In my opinion, this is the best imperial we\'ve had for sale in our shop.
My reserve is VERY fair considering the horn.
