The obverse reveals the Great Wall of China and the Smithsonian Castle in Washington D.C.In an arc at the upper rim of the design is the inscription, \"Smithsonian Institution,\" and across the bottom of the medal are the date (2015) and \"The People\'s Republic of China\" in Chinese.
