9 disc set--levels 1, 2, and 3 are two DVDs each, plus there are 3 additional discs with additional exercises (one for audio so you can practice in your car). We used it to get ready for a trip to Italy and even though we only got through part of level 1, it was very helpful and allowed us to engage in some basic Italian on our trip. The exercises are fun, and presented in a way that promotes retention. We had free access to Rosetta Stone through our library system but preferred this--Rosetta Stone was just too slow and tedious.
