REVIEWS

The crayon that writes like a pencil

Posted2 months ago.Owned for1 weekwhen reviewed.

TheLogitech Crayon is compatible with my iPad 11. Since it’s Bluetooth enable, setting up the crayon is a breeze. If you currently own an Apple Pencil, youwill not be able to use both the pencil and crayon on the same device. I wouldrecommend the crayon based on cost and it’s compatibility to the iPad.

Decent Alternative to Apple Pencil

Posted4 months ago.

I've beenusing the Apple Pencil with my iPad Pro for the last couple of years but wanteda second option to keep at home or in case I lose the Apple Pencil. TheLogitech Crayon is a pretty good alternative, but it's missing some featuresthat make the Apple Pencil so convenient. === PROS === - The Logitech Crayonwrites and draws almost identically to the Apple Pencil. The feel of the tip isvery similar. Like the Apple Pencil, you can adjust line thickness by tiltingthe Logitech Crayon so that more of the tip touches the iPad screen. - Oncepaired with your iPad, the Logitech Crayon syncs instantly once it's turned on.There is a convenient power switch at the top to turn the Crayon off or on. -Battery life is very good. Logitech says you'll get 6.5 hours ofwriting/drawing time on a full charge, and that seems accurate to me so far. -I actually find myself preferring the size and texture of the Logitech Crayonover the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is smooth and skinny, which cansometimes make it feel slippery or hard to hold. The Logitech Crayon has a abrushed metal texture which allows for a better grip in some cases. It alsofeels thicker and more substantial. The downside is that it's a bit heavierthan the Pencil, so your hand might get tired more quickly. === CONS === - Ifyou have an iPad Pro, you cannot charge the Logitech Crayon via magneticconnection to the side of your iPad. In fact, there's really nowhere to storethe Logitech Crayon if you have an iPad Pro. Logitech has Combo Touch and SlimFolio cases for the 10th gen iPad with a strap that holds the Crayon in place.Otherwise, you'll just have to toss the Crayon into your bag with the rest ofyour accessories. - Charging the Crayon with a USB-C cable feels a bit awkwardafter having used the second generation Apple Pencil. It's just one more thingyou have to remember to charge once in a while. With the Apple Pencil, younever have to think about it's charge level since it charges every time youattach it to your iPad Pro. - The Logitech Crayon does not appear in thebatteries widget on iPadOS, so you will have to rely on the three LEDs at thetop of the Crayon to determine its battery charge level. - The Crayon does notwork very well with the new "hover" feature of the M2 iPad Pros. Idon't see the "hover" effect kick in until I'm about 2 millimetersaway from the screen, which sort of defeats the purpose. === OVERALL === If youhave a newer iPad Pro, I would probably stick with the Apple Pencil thatattaches magnetically to the side of your iPad. The Logitech Crayon worksperfectly with my iPad Pro, but it's not as seamless of an experience comparedto the Apple Pencil. If you have a new 10th generation iPad, this is probably amuch better choice than the first generation Apple Pencil that you have to usean adapter to charge. It would be even better paired with one of Logitech'scases that can hold the Crayon in place.

Nice weighted pencil

ThisLogitech pencil is probably the nicest iPad pen I have. It has an aluminumbody, and the fat flat shape makes it really comfortable to hold. It’s a bitmeatier than I’m used to, but I actually prefer how that feels. The metal isfeels smooth and makes it a joy to hold. The pencil sets up almosteffortlessly. You simply connect the USB-C cord to the lightning port on youriPad and it instantly connects. I haven’t had any issues with the devicedisconnecting, and the pen has an off and on toggle switch that you can use.The switch also has a battery display gauge, which is really useful. Oddly, myson has been stealing this pencil from me over my other one. He says it’s mucheasier for him to hold, and I can see that because of the shape. If you havelittle ones in mind, I think you’ll find the shape of this pencil to be a bitmore kid friendly. Overall, really happy with the pen. It looks nice, feelsnice, and does exactly what it’s supposed to. The battery life seems to be trueto advertised as well.

A comfortable & accurate digital pencil for iPad

Posted4 months ago.

I got theCrayon for my wife to use with her iPad Pro and she loves it. Just asadvertised, it connected with the iPad immediately and was ready to use with nosetup at all. She already had a Logitech Folio (keyboard) case which has beengreat, so choosing Logitech again was easy. The Crayon is lightweight, and theflat design is very comfortable to use for hours writing and drawing. It alsodoesn't roll, so it stays were you put it down. It has 3 easy to read LEDs thatindicate how much battery is left and the stated 6.5hrs of use is accurate. Itgoes to sleep to save battery but wakes up as soon as you pick it up again andit has a simple on/off switch when you are done using it. It charges quicklywith a USB-C charger (~45min), but my wife was a little disappointed that youcan't use it and charge at the same time since it doesn't require (or have)inductive charging. She has been using it with a Paperlike screen protector onher iPad and it worked well with her go-to apps (Good Notes and Procreate). Thetip is not pressure sensitive, but the tilt tip feature worked great inProcreate for shading (once you get the hang of it). Tilting the tip did notwork to change the line size in Good Notes for some reason, but that is not adeal breaker. Overall, drawing and handwriting were smooth and accurate inevery app with no gaps or lag.
