Price: US $799.95
RARE NEW and UNUSED original 1984 AppleModel# M0130 400K single-sided external floppy disk drive for thefirst M0001 128K and 512K Macintosh computers. Complete never used in the original matching serial #'s Apple retail boxand all original packaging! This comes new unused in the original box, the original blue clear covering and yellow security tape still tightly attached and sealed around the drive connector, never opened! The yellow tape on the clear plastic cover for the drive unit has seperated and come loose from age, tape just dried out over time, this is nearly 40 years old! The drive is in mint perfect unused condition as shown! You will not find one of these original 1984 Macintosh external drives in nicer condition than this now!
This model is the first external disk drive that was offered for the first Macintosh computer by Apple. The style and beige/cream color of this drive match the Macintosh computer models from 1984.From non-smoking environment, stored properly so no smoke or old musty odors.
Beautiful new unused condition, drive is not yellowed or discolored, as it was always in the clear wrap and box. This is impossible to find now nearly 40 years later in unused conditon! Perfect for the collector to display and collect with an original 1984 Macintosh. Very rare to find new unused in the original matching Apple retail box with all original packaging. Includes the original insert card, both plastic bag covers that go over the drive and over the connector which is still factory sealed, both white foam halves with Apple embossed logo, and the original matching serial # retail box!
Since the tape dried out and came loose on the clear bag for the drive unit, the drive was removed from the bag to show for the photos. I did attempt to insert a Mac disk just to see if the mechanism inside is seized up from age, which is expected for one of these drives after nearly 40 years unused. The original lubricant on the mechanism inside dries up over time and disks will no longer insert, a very common issue for these early Mac drives. As expected a disk will not go in this drive, so the drive does need to be opened and serviced to actually be used. I decided to NOT open the drive for now as the buyer may want to keep it original as it is, or may want to be the one to open it for the first time and service the drive themselves. However, if the buyer wants me to open the drive and service it for them after purchase and paymentv I will do that for no additional cost. I have serviced hundreds of these 400K drives, and this one will just need the old dried lubricant cleaned off and then relubed and tested, fully expect it to work perfectly considering it was never used. For now though will leave it untouched and unopened in case the buyer wants it in this original condition. All photos are of the exact items buyer will receive. An external drive is perfect for making backup copies of original disks, and to have if the Mac's internal disk drive should ever fail since the early Macs are of course completely floppy disk based, no hard drive. Also, some later programs that came on multiple disks require two drives just to use. Add this new unused 400K Apple drive to an early Macintosh to make a complete collector system! A great rare collector piece ready for display!
