Why use 5Ghz access point?

Simply put, because the 2.4Ghz wireless hotspot only 3 channels (1,6,11) not interfere, current 2.4Ghz wireless hotspot too more. Therefore, long-distance transmission can not avoid interference.

5Ghz wireless hotspot theoretically has 22 channels not interfere, and limited number of 5Ghz devices. Therefore easier to avoid interference.
