This is a rare Dell XPS tower that makes an absolutely fantastic Retro 98 SE Gaming PC. It has some of the absolute best wide range compatibility and sound in DOS games possible. Legendary actual Intel SE440BX-3 motherboard (the rare final version with genuine Yamaha OPL3+ sound) - and with the big blue never die capacitors.
This board is regarded as one of the very best out there for the widest range of compatibility of all systems in existence and it happens to also be rock solid stable and last forever with its high quality components. Windows 98SE is installed with basically all patches and updates ever released plus some extra and some quality of life fixes as well. Also includes DirectX 9.0c & universal USB drivers so you can easily use almost any flash drive 128GB and under. Various additional software installed such as zip folders capability, etc.
Excellent quality Intel motherboard, no bulging caps, pristine condition, like many of the very best systems that I list, this one appears to have been barely used and a legendary combo for retro gaming with its built in Yamaha OPL3 sound and a Diamond Viper Nvidia V770 32MB video card.DOS gaming compatibility further enhanced by allowing you to take advantage of this excellent sound card in either Windows 98 or DOS. Unlike the vast majority of other sound cards, this one includes a special extra driver that creates a "Legacy" version of the sound card in Windows Device Manager, allowing you to play many DOS games right within Windows perfectly with full sound and music! And it also has excellent DOS mode drivers available as well! In DOS mode, a very convenient menu has already been set up to choose various memory modes. To get full sound and voice support choose any Expanded Memory option, a batch file has already been created that will load selected drives and initialize the DOS mode sound card drivers using IRQ5/220/DMA1 settings, the most common settings in most DOS games, plus full voice support which many great old DOS games have. (And if you forget how to get back to Windows it prompts you after picking a memory mode if you want to return to windows or not)
A few games are already included to start you off. Plays Doom, Heretic, Hexxen, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein and nearly any other DOS game out there.
