This is for anice looking oldsterling silver Tavannes La Captive pocket watch from the 20s. The design is timeless, you just push the sides to open the window on top tip the watch forwardand the watch looks in place to use as a little desk clock. They were made in Switzerland and commissioned by both Dunhill and Cartier. This one is marked J.C by the hallmarks so i presume itwas retailed byCartier. It has all the relevant nomenclature under the watch, it has matching serial numbers on both the back of the watch, the back of the doorsand the back of the actual wathcase, they are5882. It alsohas what i think isa patent number - 825925 andbelow that, it carries a full set of English sterling silver import hallmarks for Glasgow 1929. It is marked above that\'Tavannes Watch Company - Swiss\' and below \'Brevete + Depose\'. Finally at the very bottom it has sponsors initials \'SFC\'for Schwob Freres who were watchmakers at La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland...so its history and originality are covered !!!, i have never seen so much info on a little piece of silver.Each little door is marked on the back too. It is in excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere, there are no dents or splits or repairs...the hinge barrels line up nicely...itsvery clean looking,with just the minuscule surface wear you see in the pics and overall it displays beautifully. The watch winds and runs fine,i am not an expert but it feelsjust as it should when you wind it up and the sameand listen to it, it loses a little buthaven\'t serviced it or looked at it inside to adjust it.It measures 46mm x 33mm closed.
