Antique Chelsea U.S. Navy ship deck clock No. 2, 4\" dial. WWI?
Price: US $265.00

Up for sale to U.S. customers onlyis a nice old U.S. navy #2 deck clock made by Chelsea which could date to the early 1900s. The serial number on the back is 116867 and on the lower right hand of the face it could read 1923 or capital I923. As the pictures show the brass has not been cleaned and there are several small areas of discoloration on the side, the face has rub wear near the keyhole (probably from winding), the key is not original, but it works. When I wind the main spring it sounds like it is slipping. I started it Monday at 11:30 am eastern time and as I list this at 8:30 pm Thursday night it is keeping excellent time. I will update this listing in the coming days to let you know how long it keeps on tickin\'. If any er can date this piece, or explain how long it is supposed to run, let us know. A great piece for restoration.

I don\'t know anything else aboutthis itemso please ask questions. Thanks for looking and please check out my other sales.

NOTE: I have foundthat the shipping calculator is not always reliable so please use the shipping cost as a guide only. Do not pay for the item until I send you an invoice with correct shipping cost. Sorry, but I have ended up losing money on shipping charges. I also reduce shipping cost if I can find a cheaper shipper.

I try very hard to satisfy all my customers, and I think my response shows it. In order to avoid unpleasant surprises, please email me with questions before the sale ends. Some buyers have requested refunds because they thought they were getting something other than what was described and pictured. I\'ll answer all questions and even send extra pictures, but if you don\'t ask in advance then you can\'t expect me to give you a refund because you made some assumptions about the item. I\'m not an expert on most of the things I sell, nor a mind reader, so I\'d like to clear up questions as much as you would.

A helpful er got me to a Chelsea clock website and it turns out the serial number shows it was made from 1915 to 1919 closely matching the years for WWI. See the Q&A below. And the clock stopped working at 11:30 last night so it ran for about 3-1/2 days.

I have added two more pictures at one er\'s request -- one shows that the serial numbers on the outside and inside of the case match and another of the works. I did not disassemble any more of the clock for fear of damaging it or possibly losing pieces (as it is, I have 2 extra screws which I figure held down the face plate and I\'ll include those in the shipment so the new owner can have as much fun as I did reassembling it).
In case you missed it in an earlier posting, the clock stopped working the same night I put this up for sale so it worked for about 3-1/2 days without being rewound. It is re-assembled and seems to be working just fine.
