Exquisite antique Victorian German Hanau sterling silver jewelry casket by George Roth circa turn of the 20th century. Large, footed box features an allover heavy repoussé figural motif. Framed vignettes of romantic couples reading and playing musical instruments. On the lid, a man is courting a lady with a small bird in his hand. There are flower baskets, cupid and putti statues, a water fountain, etc. Interior bottom is lined in emerald green silk velvet and lid is lined with a blue silk cushion for hat pins or brooches. Signature on bottom. In very nice condition overall with minor signs of age. One of the back feet is not original, locking mechanism has been removed, light soiling and age to the silk. Exterior is overall excellent. Please see photos carefully for details. Measures about 9\" W x 6\" D x 4 1/2\" H and weighs 3 lbs 7 oz on the postal scale. Fresh out of a fine old estate!
