The History
This beautiful brooch was made during the Art Nouveau Period. The Art Nouveau period was famous for it\'s timeless handcrafted design work! The Art Nouveau Era was also called \"La Belle Epoque\" which in French translates to \"A Beautiful Time\".
During the Art Nouveau period, organic world based designs were popular, long flowing lines, hair, vines, or bug types of jewelry. This piece is a classic example of this period in jewelry history.
Akoya Pearls during the Art Deco Period were extremely rare and expensive to own! These pearls were extremely elegant and highly sought after due to their stunning luster and beautiful round shape. The pearls were still very new during the Art Deco Period and usually reserved for only the richest of the rich with their incredibly expensive price.
Amethyst has been set in religious jewelry and royal crown jewels for ages. It was once considered equal in value to ruby, emerald, and sapphire. Amethyst has even adorned the fingers of bishops as well as the coronation regalia of British royalty.
The Piece
The Amethyst gem stone in this piece is beautifully oval cut and show cases stunning facets that reflect light elegantly off of their surface. The gem stone features its signature deep purple color with a gorgeous clarity that is absolutely mesmerizing to look into! The gem stone is in great condition and is beautifully prong set in the middle of the pin!
The Akoya Pearls in this piece are all beautifully rounded and show case a stunningly smooth polished surface. The pearls show case an absolutely stunning white color with a gorgeous amount of luster that compliments the pin perfectly!
The gold work in this incredibly brooch was entirely hand made by a talented artist of the Art Nouveau Era. The design features a gorgeous setting for the Amethyst gem stone and seed pearls! The design also includes beautiful flowing rope twist design, stunning long strands of gold and and elegant dangle portion that houses yet another Amethyst gem stone!
The brooch measures 1.75\" long by 1.5\" wide. The brooch is finished off with an enclosed catch that works perfectly.
