The HistoryThis beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the \"Gatsby\" or \"Roaring Twenties\" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period.
During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.
Filigree metal working has been around for thousands of years, however was perfected by the Phoenicians and Etruscan civilizations. It involves stamping out a design in your metal and hand bending and twirling until your design in formed, it is considered one of the most difficult metal working processes.
The European Cut was primarily in use from 1890 to 1940. This type of old cut diamond was a step up from the Mine cut which preceded it, it includes more facets to reflect the light and sparkle as well as a larger table than we had ever seen before. This was truly the last type of diamond to be cut completely by hand! These diamonds especially larger ones are very rare, due to being re-cut into modern cuts over the years.
Emeralds from what is now Colombia were part of the plunder when sixteenth-century Spanish explorers invaded the New World. The Incas had already been using emeralds in their jewelry and religious ceremonies for 500 years. The Spanish, who treasured gold and silver far more than gems, traded emeralds for precious metals. Their trades opened the eyes of European and Asian royalty to emerald’s majesty. Emerald is also one of the four Precious gemstones with Diamonds, Sapphires and Ruby\'s.
